Mission & Goals of MSLA
Our mission is to promote and develop student leadership and student activities within Manitoba schools.
Our goals are:
-To facilitate the professional growth of Student Activity Advisors by helping to equip them with the resources, ideas, and support to become effective trainers of student leaders
-To encourage the sharing and exchange of ideas pertaining to student activities
-To support the organization and growth of associations of Student Activity Advisors in Manitoba

MSLA Membership
Consists
of high school activity advisors. Membership fees ($25/year) is
usually paid in October of each year at the annual conference (Manitoba
Student Leadership Conference - MSLC)
MSLA Offers
-Annual provincial workshop for advisors in February/March (usually in Winnipeg)
-Reduced rates for MSLA members
-Annual provincial conference for students and advisors in October
-Access to the Canadian Student Leadership Association (CSLA) and their national conference in September (Canadian Student Leadership Conference - CSLC)
-A variety of materials and resources and activity ideas that assist in promoting student leadership in school
-Some examples of these resources include ideas for: fundraising, generating school spirit, improving communication, public speaking, group dynamics, how to run meetings, making assemblies more interesting, student leadership classes, wake-a-thons, social justice.

MSLA Awards
Sylvia Goodwin Award: This award is a memorial award that will honour an outstanding student or students of the host school who contributes the most in helping host the conference.

George Takashima Award:

George Takashima is:
-the "father" of student leadership in Manitoba and across Canada. He has contributed a great deal to both MSLA & CSLA.
-A strong support to advisors & youth
The Past Executive Director of CSLA (formerly CASAA)
-The Director of the Lion's Summer Student Leadership Camps
-A person who has officially been involved since the 1980s but anyone who has worked with George knows he has always been committed to youth and leadership
-Our "background guy" who always encourages other and continues to pass on the torch and his love of young people and their leadership development
-Our inspiration and "can do" guy
